Groupage involves combining cargo from more than one exporter or seller or to more than one receiver for them to be shipped together in a single shipping container. It is a tremendous cost-saving opportunity for those who usually prefer to send in smaller volumes.
Also known as LCL (Less than Container Load), groupage refers to the process of transporting a shipment with other goods in the container. Multiple LCL shipments with different Bills of Ladings and different owners can be loaded into a single container. Each shipment is charged based on the amount of space being utilised in the container.
